Planning Your Hunt
- We hunt Wednesdays through Sundays from September 19 through March 21.
– Closed November 21–29 for gun deer season.
– Closed December 24 and 25. - Pheasant hunts are by reservation only. We are open to the public; no membership is necessary.
- We offer morning hunts from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and afternoon hunts from 1:00 p.m. to approximately 5:00 p.m.
- Our pheasant hunting preserve is made up of six different farms that vary in size. Each property includes wooded areas and a variety of hunting cover, including switchgrass, corn, and sorghum. Hunters can choose the farm that best suits their needs, and all farms have mowed strips for easier walking.
- Only one group is booked per farm, giving your group exclusive use of the property during your hunt.

How the Hunts are Set Up
- Maximum of six people per field.
- Pheasants and chukar partridge are available.

Minimum bird release:
- Wednesday–Friday: Three birds per gun or six birds, whichever is greater.
- Saturday and Sunday: Three birds per gun or 10 birds, whichever is greater.
- Bring your own dog or book one of our experienced hunting guides and their dogs.
- We wait to release your birds until you arrive for your hunt. Releases are approximately half roosters and half hens.
- When your hunt is over, you may clean your birds in our cleaning house, take them home, or have us clean them for $3 per bird. Cleaning includes deboned breasts and thighs.
Interested in Training Your Dog?
- We have a six-acre switchgrass field used for dog training. The shorter, thinner cover creates an ideal training environment.
- No minimum bird release is required for the training field.
- You can set the birds yourself and tailor the training session to your dog’s experience and needs.
Safety
- Anyone hunting on Woods & Meadow property must wear at least 50% blaze orange.
- Shell length is restricted to 2¾ inches, and shot size must be No. 4 or smaller. Lead or steel shot is permitted.
- Eye and ear protection is recommended.
- Hunter safety certification is recommended but not required.
- Guided hunts: Any bird shot at on or near the ground without the dog handler’s permission will result in the Woods & Meadow guide removing their dogs from the field. You may finish your hunt, but it will continue without a guide or dog.
FAQ
In the case of poor hunting conditions (heavy rain, snow storm, high heat, etc.), we will call and recommend that you reschedule your hunt. We want your hunting experience at Woods and Meadow to be enjoyable and successful.
Once you select the morning or afternoon on an available date, all we need is your name, phone number, whether you have your own dog or need a guide and dog, and the number of birds you would like released (this number can be changed later). No deposit necessary.
No. Woods and Meadow has a hunting preserve license that covers the business and farms.
It depends. Plan a few weeks to a month in advance for a weekend hunt in the fall. Weekdays can usually be booked a week or two before. Sometimes we have cancellations, so it never hurts to call.
